How to Apply

Please note before applying for an advertised role with Richmond Valley Council, please ensure you have a current email address in order to submit your application and receive status updates. If you don’t have an email address, we have included details  regarding how to obtain one at the end of this brochure.

Step 1:  Visit Richmond Valley Council’s website www.richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au and click on the  Careers@Council link located in the Quick Links on the right hand side of the page.

Step 2:  Click on Positions Vacant

Step 3:  Select the role you are interested in and read the information about the role to assess whether you have the qualifications, skills, knowledge, experience and values required in the role.

Step 4:  Prepare Your Application

Your application needs to be completed in one sitting. You are not able to save it and come back to it later. To assist with this process, you could copy and paste the questions into a word processing document to work on until you are ready to submit your responses. Check if any supporting documents have been requested (e.g. Resume, Cover Letter). If so, ensure you have electronic copies of these to attach before submitting your application.

Step 5:  Complete your application

If you prepared your responses in a separate document, you are able to cut and paste these into each question field. Upload your resume and any other requested documents (please note requested documents may vary depending upon the role).

Step 6:  Submit Your Application

Once you are happy with your application, click “Confirm” to submit. If the application is successfully submitted, you will receive an immediate acknowledgement email. Updates regarding the status of your application will then be emailed throughout the recruitment process.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I save my application and come back to it later?

No, your application will need to be completed in one sitting. You are unable to save and come back to it later.

How do I answer the questions?

Some questions only require simple responses such as ticking “yes” or “no” or selecting an answer from a drop down box. Other questions require typed responses, providing relevant examples. The answer box will expand as you type and there are no limits to how many words you can use, however we do ask that you keep responses concise.

Do I need to answer all the questions?

The questions marked with a red asterisk must be answered. If you do not answer these questions, you will not be able to submit your application and you will see red writing on the screen, indicating which question(s) still require a response.

What If I don’t have a computer or internet access at home?

Richmond Valley Council have computer access available with internet access at our Casino Administration Building (cnr of Walker Street and Graham Place Casino) and Richmond-Upper Clarence Regional Library, who has branches at Casino, Coraki, Evans Head and Kyogle.

Free public Wi-Fi services are also available in the Evans Head, Woodburn and Casino CBDs. Anyone with a Wi-Fi compatible device, like smart phones, laptops and tablets can access free internet. Don’t forget to have an electronic copy of your resume avaiable to submit online.

No Email Address – No Problem

If you do not have a current email address, you will need to set one up. Gmail is easy to set up and can be accessed from any device. Visit https://www.google.com/intl/en/mail/help/about.html and click on ‘Create an account’. Follow the prompts to establish your account (remember to write down your user name and password so that you can access your email later).
